APIS Institute organized a Documentary Photography Residency, which took place from the 2nd to the 12th of April 2018. The winner of Photo marathon 2017 for Ljubljana, Krix Berberian, came for two weeks to perform a photo storytelling in Fužine in order to capture the creative potential of this vibrant multicultural district of Ljubljana. In return, Andrej Furlan went from Slovenia to Beirut, Lebanon, for three weeks to create a photo series about places of remembrance, bringing awareness to society in order to fight injustices and strive for a fairer world. This resulted in an exhibition about Public and Intimate Memory in Beirut.
Krix Berberian’s stay in Ljubljana also resulted in an exhibition in the Museum of Architecture and Design MAO in Fužine, Ljubljana. The first opening event twas held on the 12th of April in the frame of Creative Forum Ljubljana organized by the Ministry of Foreign affairs of Slovenia and Union for the Mediterranean. The second opening took place for the public on the 13th of April. The exhibition showed the creative potential of multicultural societies by telling stories of successful inhabitants of Fužine, such as Goran Vojnović, Zlatko Čordić and others, through photography.
