Along this line, y<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">oung people presented newly acquired knowledge of media literacy at the closing event in the Library of Kranjska Gora. They caught our attention with their creativity and commitment.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.instituteapis.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Screenshot-from-2019-02-22-11-45-06.png\"><img class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-1303\" src=\"http:\/\/www.instituteapis.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Screenshot-from-2019-02-22-11-45-06.png\" alt=\"Screenshot from 2019-02-22 11-45-06\" width=\"598\" height=\"398\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">APIS Institute hosted young people from France, Latvia, Slovenia, Turkey and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland at Villa \u0160umica. During the youth exchange, that lasted for 9 days, participants were enhancing their skills for an effective and safe media use. At the same time, they learned about the strategies of social networking and became acquainted with target marketing. In this culturally diverse environment and through various methods of informal learning methods, thematic stories were narrated using tools as photography, video, theater and text. The awareness-rising component of the products was surprising as well as the process of their creation. At the surprise of many, it revealed many unexpressed talents.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The role play pushed participants to step \u201cin the shoes\u201d of politicians, lobbyists, journalists, activists and representatives of NGOs. They staged and experienced the complexity of the political environment and the challenges of active citizenship on their own skin. Furthermore, by creating and publishing untrue stories, participants imitated media deceit and confronted the responses of recipients and the effects of fake news in the media.<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Media literacy program also addressed the understanding of discrimination, stereotypes, ecology and migration in media and, as it turned out, a very important topic among young people: mental health. As social media have the strongest influence on young people, no critical reflection on its advantages and disadvantages was left out. A few results of the photo and video\u00a0workshops can be seen bellow. They have mainly focused their attention to mental health problems in youth, migration, ecology and pop culture in media.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Photo series on Migration and Mental Health (2nd, 3rd and 4th).<\/p>\n\n<p>Winner photo series encompassing all topics from Ecology, Food industry, Mental Health, Migration and Pop culture in a logical and interesting story with a powerful message.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.instituteapis.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/collage-shoe-photo-series.jpg\"><img class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-1323\" src=\"http:\/\/www.instituteapis.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/collage-shoe-photo-series.jpg\" alt=\"collage-shoe photo series\" width=\"712\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The media literacy exchange program, which took place from 19 to 28 November, exceeded the expectations of the participants.
