“First we need a catalog of interviews and oral history projects in Slovenia,” by saying that thirteen researchers and oral history interviewers \u00a0laid the foundations of the Oral History Society of Slovenia.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Oral history can be the most easily understood as a collection of studies and information on individuals, families, groups, events, or everyday life, obtained through planned and recorded or written interviews. Its origins date back to the first half of the last century and its methods is are used in Slovenia, both in social science and humanities<\/p>\n

The initiative for the establishment of the society was a spontaneous result of a week long educational meetings in the field of oral history in Ljubljana. An american historian and director of the Oral History Office at the University of Connecticut<\/a> Bruce M. Steve and his wife Sondro Astor Match, also experienced interviewer and memory collector. Their knowledge and experience were presented in Slovenia on the initiative and organized by the Embassy of the United States<\/a>, the Museum of Contemporary History<\/a>, Slovene Ethnographic Museum<\/a> and the Slovenian Migration Institute<\/a>\u00a0at the Research Centre of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts.<\/p>\n

In five days we shared our experiences with each other and with guests from abroad. Regardless years of experiences, number of interviews made, conducted researches or publications we unanimously concluded that exchange is necessary, as is necessary a development of standards, technology requirements, digitization and archiving of interviews – all topics we do not have sufficient and satisfactory answers.<\/p>\n

More than all mentioned above we need a unified catalog of interviews and existing projects in Slovenia.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The creation of an\u00a0union cataloc of oral history was set as a priority once the\u00a0Oral History Society of Slovenia will be established.<\/p>\n

The establishment of the Oral History Society of Slovenia was initiated in Ljubjana, on June 15th 2012, by:<\/p>\n
